History…
PenSoft is a privately held company founded in 1983 by Chairman, Charles Little. In January 1990, retired Air Force Lt. Col. Leroy Newman, with his engineering and business management experience, joined PenSoft. They incorporated and moved the home-based operation into a Newport News, Virginia office. Newman is now president and CEO of the company.

Today…
PenSoft relies largely on distributors, customer referrals, and the internet to continue the company's rapid growth. PenSoft has grown to support thousands of clients with a highly trained staff of degreed accountants, computer programmers, program support consultants, and business experts.

The 2001 release of PenSoft Payroll introduced two new editions to its current line. The Platinum and Accounting Editions are designed with additional advanced features.

In 2004 PenSoft released PenSoft Payroll Plus. It is built on the latest .NET technology and includes many new features requested by customers.

Also in 2004 PenSoft announced Stephanie Salavejus as Vice President. Her primary responsibilities include promoting business partnerships, developing additional training products and filling in for Leroy Newman , President & CEO, while away from the office. In 2006 she was again promoted to Chief Operations Officer (COO) with overall responsibility for daily operations.

In the Summer of 2005 PenSoft added a Payroll Tax Librarian position. The Payroll Tax Librarian is responsible for maintaining and updating the tax library for the U.S. and all 50 states.

In 2007 PenSoft released PenSoft Remote Client. PenSoft Remote Client is a downloadable application to remotely submit payroll information to a payroll processor and to return reports to clients via a secure page on the PenSoft website. Also, new in 2007 is the offering of paycards. Paycards are re-loadable and give immediate access to employee earnings everywhere Visa is accepted.

PenSoft also has a number of Certified Payroll Professionals (CPPs) on staff in many different departments such as Program Support, Management, and Officers. The CPPs are also members of the local Colonial Capital Chapter.

PenSoft® Payroll Plus, is a powerful payroll software program. With thousands of customers in all 50 United States, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, it is designed for use by accountants, any type of small to mid-sized business with 1 to 2000+, doctors, attorneys, and other professionals. "Sold on an annual-subscription basis," says Newman. "PenSoft Payroll Plus can be used cost-effectively for one to 2000+ employees, and for an unlimited number of companies."

After developing its website in 1995, www.PenSoft.com, PenSoft began partnering with accounting, human resource, time clock and vertical market software manufacturers for distribution of its products. The company has also been selected as the primary provider of payroll processing software for the national accounting franchise groups LedgerPlus, Inc., headquartered in Tallahassee, FL, Medicine Shoppe International, headquartered in St. Louis, MO, and is currently being considered by several other franchisers to do the same.

"We are experiencing a growth explosion," says Newman. "Since incorporating in 1990, PenSoft has grown an average of greater than 30% each year."

Always up to date PenSoft Payroll Plus automates payroll management in a variety of business settings. PenSoft provides technological transparency to the user through extreme ease of use, superior program support, and the flexibility to accommodate virtually every individual's payroll and tax situation. Users subscribe to the current calendar year version, then renew their subscription each year to receive a complete, new program incorporating the most complete and accurate wage and tax changes, and free program support. During the subscription year, any federal or state changes are automatically sent to each subscriber. Thus, regardless of how many states employees call home, or how tax laws may have changed during the year, it's there.
