For a company paid every Friday, this Friday is January 1. When should direct deposits be paid and when should live checks be paid? My company will have direct deposits in the employee accounts on December 31 and live checks will be dated (and handed out) on December 31. My wife's company does not operate this way. Their d/d will be on 12/31 and live checks, although handed out on 12/31, will be dated 1/1 which means they cannot be negotitated until Saturday 1/2.
I tried finding State specific guidance via Google but struck out. Does anyone know what the legal requirements are for paydays falling on a holiday? |
