Obama’s 2009 budget contains a proposal to increase the frequency employers report wages to the Social Security Administration. It has been suggested requiring employer to report wage information on a quarterly basis. Has anyone heard when the administration plans on implementing the new filing requirement?

Doesn't the present 941 Quarterly filings report this information already?

Only to the IRS not the SSA. From all I have read the administration feels that more frequent reporting would improve tax administration and make it easier to implement their proposal to institute automatic enrollment into retirement savings accounts.

Starting to think I need to put a bed in my office. One person payroll departments will be busier than ever.
