For a company paid every Friday, this Friday is January 1. When should direct deposits be paid and when should live checks be paid? My company will have direct deposits in the employee accounts on December 31 and live checks will be dated (and handed out) on December 31. My wife's company does not operate this way. Their d/d will be on 12/31 and live checks, although handed out on 12/31, will be dated 1/1 which means they cannot be negotitated until Saturday 1/2.

I tried finding State specific guidance via Google but struck out. Does anyone know what the legal requirements are for paydays falling on a holiday?

Thank you for posting your inquiry to the PenSoft Community Forum! There are no regulations or official guidelines on the federal level related to the payout of wages on a holiday. You will definately want to check with your local state agencies to determine if there are rules governing the subject there.
