New PenSoft Payroll 2001 Features Make Processing Payroll
Easier Than Ever Before

(Newport News, VA – November 8, 2000) –   PenSoft, a major developer of payroll software since 1983, offers employers and payroll service providers a powerful, productivity-boosting payroll solution.  With the 2001 edition of PenSoft Payroll, processing payroll has become easier than ever before.

Here’s what’s new in PenSoft Payroll 2001

·         The Conversion Wizard walks users step by step through converting payroll data from year to year, eliminating the need to re-key employee and company information.

·         The Combined Reports feature includes daily, monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date payroll data in a single report.

·         The Display Checks feature saves time and supplies by allowing users to display all checks on screen prior to printing.  This feature helps avoid costly errors and the need to reprint checks.

·         The Search/Find Employee feature lets employers search for active, inactive, and archive employee records by last name, first name, social security number, or employee number.  This is a valuable time-saving feature for large employers.

·         The View Exports feature allows users to review the contents of export files before importing the data into other software.

·         The Custom Export Format allows users to select from all available payroll data fields to create a custom export file for import into another program.

·         Multiple Report Stacks allow users to pick and choose from hundreds of reports to create and save an unlimited number of custom report stacks with unlimited combinations.  Users no longer have to spend time recreating stacks each time a different combination of reports is needed, i.e. the pay date stack, the end of the quarter report stack, the end of the year stack.

·         Check for Updates in the Help menu will check PenSoft’s website, compare the most recent software version available with the users current version.  It will then connect them via their internet browser software to PenSoft’s download site if a newer version is available for download.  If they have the most current version, a message will appear telling users they are currently using the most recent version.  These free updates ensure users have the latest tax rates when they process their companies’ payrolls.

·         The Error Detection and Reporting feature verifies employee data being imported into PenSoft Payroll from other software packages (HR or accounting software packages, for example) and reports any import errors allowing for easy correction.

·         Forms W2, W3, and Magnetic Media Formats have been revised to meet the new Social Security Administration standards.

Other new features have also been added such as support for employees living outside the U.S. and Canada, additional FUTA reports, batch mode column totals, and a printed batch mode log.  Many additional state reports have also been added.
